Publican Press (est. 2024) is dedicated to the publication of literature from the early Church, as well as contemporary authors who write in the spirit of the early Church.
We are an independent collective of Christians who aim to craft high-quality physical books, ebooks, and audiobooks. Most of us are American members of the Eastern Orthodox Church. We are committed to publishing materials that are both beautiful and accessible, for “beauty will save the world,” and “he that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church” (1 Cor. 14:4).
In publishing books which are full of practical, spiritual, and narrative content, we consciously avoid publishing books which are academic, dogmatic, and theological, but not because we find no value in such literature. Simply put, we hope to convey the fragrance of Orthodoxy—something which goes beyond the conceptual and intellectual; something which penetrates the heart.
Orthodoxy “is something first of all of the heart, not just the mind, something living and warm, not abstract and cold, something that is learned and practiced in life, not just in school.”
— Blessed Fr. Seraphim Rose of Platina
